“Similarities and Differences between Traditional Music of Croatia and Azerbaijan: tar and tambura” entitled concert was presented in Zagreb

The interactive presentation by dr.sc.Kseniya Buric entitled "Similarities and Differences between Traditional Music of Croatia and Azerbaijan: tar and tambura" was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian-Azerbaijani Friendship Society on December 11, 2019 in Zagreb.

The participants were informed about tar, the ancient musical instrument of Azerbaijan, and looked at the centuries-old history of the rich musical art of Azerbaijan during the event.

It was noted that mugham art has deep roots in the cultural traditions and history of the Azerbaijani people, making it an important part of the oral heritage of professional music culture in Azerbaijan. Ms. K.Buric informed the audience about ancient Ashik art, which is a form of oral folk music composed of epics, songs about heroism, friendship and etc.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia F. Gurbanov thanked the guests for the attendance and emphasized the importance of the event. The ambassador informed that in addition to the knowledge about Azerbaijani music, Azerbaijani artists were invited to perform live at the event.

The event was followed by a concert. The musicians performed Azerbaijani mugham "Bayati Shiraz", Azerbaijani folk songs "I splashed water into the streets", "Yellow bride" and many others. Young Croatian musicians from Varajdin joined the concert with Croatian folk music pieces.
