On the 1st of June 2017 third consular consultations was held between The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by the Ambassador at large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Fakhraddin Gurbanov and the delegation of the Republic of Croatia was headed by the Assistant of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs on consular issues and the head of Consular Directorate Mr. Ivica Glasnović.
During the consultations topics such as the establisment of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the near future, commitments of both countries concerning The Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the facilitation of the issuance of visas, visa system of two countries, dual citizenship, fight against illegal migration were discussed, also the delegations exchanged views on changes to legislation and future cooperation perspectives. As a result of meeting both sides agreed to hold the next consular consultations in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2018.
On the 2nd of June 2017 the meeting in expanded format was held in the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia. During the meeting both sides touched the topics of mutual interest, also the issues such as The Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation, issuance of residence and labour permits for foreigners, travel documents and the measures taken by both countries to prevent illegal migration were comprehensively discussed.
In the end of the meeting both sides decided to organize mutual official visits in order to acquaint with the achievements gained to prevent illegal migration and to share the experience in the above mentioned sphere.
